Galerie Dix9 is pleased to announce its participation to the art fair BAD+ Bordeaux presenting four contemporary artists from diverse backgrounds, whose works remediate from one medium to another.
In his paintings, Nemanja Nikolic (*1987, Belgrade) examines a cinematic scene. He operates by deconstruction and visual analysis of the relations between color and form, but also by reference to sensory perception and intuition about rhythm, composition, music... The choice of abstract, stylized and geometric shapes as motives of the painting is inspired by the first experimental and abstract films.
Leyla Cardenas' work (*1975, Bogota) delves into urban ruins and cities landscapes as indications of social transformation, loss and historical memory. Her photographs are printed on textile, then are partially unweaved to materialize time. A manifesto of fragility as in her installations created for the last Lyon Biennale.
Although Louisa Marajo (*1987, Martinique) defines herself as a painter, her works are a perpetual metamorphosis where mediums overlap and mingle in a deconstruction/reconstruction inspired by the disorder that reigns in the current world.
Questioning the medium of photography, Sebastian Riemer (*1982, Dusseldorf) focuses in the series Stills, on the object "slides" formerly used for art history audience. Taking photo of the object, he enlarges it and reveals all its materiality. At the same time he offers new life to the iconic paintings of famous artists, like Lichstenstein or Hockney.
